Incredible food and service! My husband and I stopped in on our way from Alabama to San Antonio. We enjoyed it so much that we stopped again on our way home. Everything is cooked with love from scratch and it shows.

Arrived at 1240, ordered at 1pm food came at 230. Never checked on us to see if we needed our drinks replaced or refilled (ice melted and drinks were like water). It was not very busy for every full table 3 were empty. The waitress was not hospitable. The food was good, and I didn't get to eat until I got home. Had to wait for take out boxes, too. I ordered potato salad, never received 😒 she brought mustard greens to me instead. She never would have said why until I told her my order was incorrect. She then went on to say, "we ran out!" If you read my other reviews, you can see I don't like giving negative reviews. This place has a nice atmosphere and good food. They need to improve with customer service and timing. Communication is the big thing. Staff need to communicate and wait staff need to communicate with the customer. I believe this will be a great place, but a lot of adjustments need to be made. It needs to be staffed better, if you use young staff, teach them! A smile and small explanation go a long way. I will not say, "Do not go and eat here." I believe this is a hidden gem 💎 that needs a little polishing.

Ate at Calihans. Food is soooo good. Had ox tail, rice and gravy, side salad and cornbread for $23. Wanted another plate. It was that good. Staff are very nice and attentive. 2nd time to eat here. Try it, it won't disappoint.
